Ice cream diet?

You know that we HCG dieters can get very creative when it comes to recipes.  So if you thought that you would have to give up sweet yummy treats…. you would be wrong.

The HCG diet protocol says that if you get a meat aversion during the diet you can substitute 1 egg along with 3 egg whites for your protein. You can also try 100 grams of fat free cottage cheese. Like always, check the ingredients list to make sure it does not contain any added starches or sugar. Vegetarian dieters are also allowed to use these protein sources.

So with that being said, I give you Ice Cream. There’s only one hitch. You would need to eat this treat as a meal replacement since it contains your protein source as well as a serving of fruit. But who is really going to complain about ice cream for lunch?

You could also just chill the mix in the fridge for a cool treat if you do not have the patience to wait for it to freeze up.

HCG Rice (well sort-of…)

cabbage rice

I am always finding HCG friendly recipes that seem like they just need a certain side dish to go along with it (typically I am thinking noodles or rice are the missing link).  Since those carb-o-licious items are not HCG diet approved, we need to get a little creative.  There is a product called Miracle Noodles available, however some seem to stall while adding them to the diet while others do okay and still continue to lose well.  They also make a Miracle Rice if you are willing to take the chance.

This recipe uses Cabbage to make a rice-like side dish.  The great news is that you can add all kinds of spices and flavors to convert the rice cabbage from Mexican to Italian styles.  It is so versatile and easy to make that you will be making it more often than you would think.  A head of cabbage may be your new BFF in the kitchen.

The How-To:
Chop up 1/2 to 1 full head of cabbage into small pieces (the smaller the better). You can roughly chop it if you like and then add it to a food processer to get a rice size consistency. Sauté the cabbage in large frying pan with water or chicken broth. Add in any flavors or spices that you like (I am thinking onion and garlic, yummmm) and sauté with the cabbage. Cook until the cabbage becomes tender, adding liquid as necessary.
